The Brass Rail Inn was built in 1922 as the home of two sisters. Before long, they converted it into a Tea Room. In 1939, the business was sold to a San Franciscan, who then remodeled the Tea Room and upstairs bedrooms into a very profitable, though rather risqué business venture: a Brothel. In 1944 the business sold and was converted into a dinner house. After passing through the hands of several owners, it was then purchased by Jeanne Johnson in 1978. The restaurant has beautiful redwood interiors, hand carved ceiling beams, and antiques built from the famous old growth redwood forests. In addition Jeannie inherited a "friendly ghost"; she nicknamed him George. The spiritual being is said to be a bit of a prankster, and has been seen by some of our more enlightened customers.
